Who Am I?

  • I am former journalist and public interest-oriented communicator and marketer. I was born and raised in Columbus, Wis. and attended Ripon College, where I majored in History, Political Science and Communciations.

  • My early career was in the newspaper business. After serving as the editor-in-chief of my high school newspaper The Clarion and my college newspaper The College Days, I went on to work for several news outlets in Wisconsin.

I served as the editor of The Forest Republican in Crandon, Wis. I later worked the local government beat for the Portage Daily Register as a staff writer.

I also spent several years covering sports for The Independent Register in Brodhead, Wis.

Beyond newspaper work, I spent several years working at a startup television station WisconsinEye, which broadcast the happenings of the Wisconsin State Legislature (similar to C-SPAN).

  • Eventually, I shifted gears from journalism to focus more on communications and marketing work for various public interest organizations including America’s Credit Unions (formerly the Credit Union National Association), WiSys Technology Foundation, and The Alliance. My goal in this phase of my career has always been to 1) work with great people 2) tackle interesting problems and 3) make the world a slightly better place.

  • Outside of work, I keep busy traveling as much as I can. I’ve visited all seven continents.

During the summer months, I enjoy baseball as a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and as player and coach. Since 2013, I’ve managed the Columbus Crawdads franchise in the Home Talent League.

I live in Fitchburg, Wis. with my girlfriend Loan and our two dogs Remy and Archie.
